PLOT
PLEASE NOTE: This roleplay is set after Buffy the Vampire Slayer season 7 and Angel season 5, and during the Buffy season 8 comic book arc. It is, essentially, an AU of the Angel: After the Fall comics. The plot contains major SPOILERS for all of these. Read on at your own risk.
--------------------------------------------------
Sunnydale, California, 2003.
The First Evil's plan comes to a head, thousands of Turok-Han -- uber-powerful vampires -- are released from the Hellmouth, and an epic battle begins. Buffy and her army of Potential Slayers do battle, and with the aid of the ancient Slayer's Scythe, all the girls who are potential become fully-fledged, superpowered Slayers. All over the world, girls feel the flush of an age-old strength coming alive within them. All over the world, girls are Chosen.
The armies within the Hellmouth clash, and the Slayers are victorious. The First Evil retreats back from whence it came, and Sunnydale collapses, becoming no more than a smoking crater in the earth. And that's just the beginning.
With new Slayers awakened everywhere, there's no rest for Buffy and her Scooby Gang. They scatter, picking up new girls everywhere, training them, teaching them to control their power. Buffy, Xander and Dawn head to Scotland with a group of Slayers, placing Andrew and a decoy Buffy in Rome. Willow, Faith and Giles spend some time in England. Kennedy and Violet take over a group in New York City. Time passes.
Months later, Giles receives a phone call from Los Angeles. From Angel, who's the new CEO of evil law firm Wolfram & Hart, and asking for help. Initially Giles refuses, because the name on the letterhead never bodes well, but eventually he mulls it over and tells Buffy, who puts together a squad and heads off to the City of Angels.
Los Angeles, California, 2004.
With the Circle of the Black Thorn assassinated, the Senior Partners are out for revenge. Meanwhile, Wesley and Lindsey are dead, Gunn is seriously injured and Lorne is gone seemingly for good. Things look bad for the Angel Investigations team, and to make matters much, much worse, Wolfram & Hart have launched a full-scale demonic attack on the helpers of the helpless. They fight tooth and claw, but there are only four of them now: Angel, Spike, Illyria and Gunn. It's not enough. They need help, but to whom can they turn?
Suddenly, out of nowhere, the cavalry arrives. Hundreds of Slayers, armed and dangerous, and under Buffy's command. They beat back the Senior Partners' demons and mount an escape, but not before the unthinkable happens.
The Senior Partners bend reality and send the city of Los Angeles straight to Hell.
The sun disappears, fire and brimstone line every street corner, great tentacled, fanged beasts erupt from the pavement, and all the things that go bump in the night have free reign of LA. The situation seems hopeless, the odds insurmountable. There's no way out.
And the good guys have just discovered that Wolfram & Hart has exploited every mystical resource at their disposal to reach into heaven and yank their loved ones right out. Tara, Anya, Cordelia, Wesley -- everyone the Scoobies and Team Angel have ever loved and lost have become ghosts, wandering the streets of Hell, incorporeal, condemned to suffer for an eternity.
To top it all off, there's more than one Big Bad rising in town, looking to take advantage of LA's little predicament. A flayed Warren Mears and girlfriend Amy, Drusilla back from her little sabbatical, Ethan Rayne, revenge-driven Eve, and a surprise player...Buffy's ex-boyfriend, Riley Finn.
The New Council, the Angel Investigations team and their various allies must now band together to take down these bad guys, help the helpless and rescue Los Angeles from the pits of Hell. Will they succeed? You'll just have to wait and see.
You know what they say, kids. Always leave 'em wanting more.
